what needs to make the google maps example work 9401

Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel)

The example provided will not run out-of-the box:

But there are some signatures missing inside Uniface:

In the IDF, go to the OCX properties and press "generate signature".

Afterwards, it will run as expected.

Thanks to Theo for that easy-to-use example.

Success, Uli

  2. Hi Theo,

no need for apologies at all.

But it is a good example for out-of-the-box problems with OCX.

We are simply not aware of these signatures
    because they are not created in the good-old-uniface way;
they are not activated explicitly, do not show up in some code.

So we do not include these in our export file.
At least when deploying, we face this "BIG BUG BANG".

    SUccess, Uli

  3. Hi all,

The demo Theo made came just in the right moment as we were looking how to get Google Maps to work in Uniface. Thanks Theo !! Besides generating a signature for the Shell.Explorer (or Webbrowse) ocx component, we had also to import and compile the UHTTP signature shipped with Uniface.

We wanted to use the more dynamic JavaScript version of Google Maps. So I have enriched the demo of Theo to make use of the JavaScript API of Google Maps. It uses a small webpage running with Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) and some JavaScript to show Google Maps, read a XML file with locations of markers and show the markers on the map.

Feel free to enhance this demo with more functionality like InfoWindow (popup form with more information when a marker is clicked).

    Kind regards,
