Uniface 8.4.05.01 and 32-bit Oracle 11G2 Client on 64-bit Windows Server 2008

We are migrating our citrix environment from 32-bit windows server 2003 to 64-bit windows server 2008, but we have an application that needs uniface 8.4.  I have installed the 32-bit Oracle 11G R2 Client, but the uniface install will not start.  I have also tried compatibility mode with no success.  Is there a way to get this configuration to work?  Upgrading uniface at this time is not an option. The exact build of uniface we are running is 8.4.05.01 (D506 0914_1) Date: September 14, 2007 I understand this has been out of support for quite some time, I would just like to know if there is a way to get it to run on a 64-bit server.   Thank you!

  1. Hi, upgrading Uniface to latest version is always the best choice but if you really can't you can always make use of client - server compatibility within your database engine. Oracle is known having a generic policy to support with its client at least the previous and the next server version but sometimes limitations apply... Oracle call this functionality "Client/Server interoperability" with a matrix defining possible choices.   2. Can you clarify please? Does Uniface really not start or does it not want to connect to Oracle? What do your Uniface log files say?
