Enhancing text readability within a UA Session

Users can experience a less easy readable font being used in their application that is running through Uniface Anywhere on their client machine. This is mostly due to screen resolutions and the used font type by that application. To “Make the text on your screen easier to read”, Uniface Anywhere Host administrators can “Turn on ClearType” (see foot note) for every Uniface Anywhere session, by editing the following XML file on the HOST: C:\ProgramData\Uniface\Uniface Anywhere\WorkspaceProperties-All Users.xml (The directory C:\ProgramData\ is a hidden directory by default.) Change when applicable the following line: <workspaceproperties version="1.0"/> In to: <workspaceproperties version="1.0"> by removing the forward slash at the end of the tag. Add right beneath this workspaceproperties tag the following lines:      <property id="clearType" group="Miscellaneous" type="BOOL">            <value>true</value>      </property> </workspaceproperties>   In other words, when the original file only contains: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <workspaceproperties version="1.0"/> Than the edited file will look like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <workspaceproperties version="1.0">      <property id="clearType" group="Miscellaneous" type="BOOL">            <value>true</value>      </property> </workspaceproperties>   No need to restart the Application Publishing Service, as every new connection to the host will be using this new default. Turning on ClearType, can have a slight impact on the performance and system resources. Note: ClearType is a software technology developed by Microsoft that improves the readability of text on existing LCDs, such as laptop screens, Pocket PC screens and flat panel monitors. With ClearType font technology, the words on your computer screen look almost as sharp and clear as those printed on a piece of paper.   Uniface Anywhere Technical Support
