Dropdown box detail

Author: mweaver68@gmail.com (Mike Weaver)

Has anyone had the need to be able to double click on a drop down box to have an action happen? If so, how did you go about it?  example:     Drop down box has values 1, 2, 3. User is in occurrence one of a multiple occurrence entity. User selects 3.     The users are used to being able to double click on other fields and having the values in those fields be copied to the rest of the occurrences in the entity.      So, we would like to have something similar happen with a drop down box. Landscape on the form is very limited.   Thanks, Mike

  1. Hi Mike, AFAIK you cannot activate <DETAIL> trigger of a DropDown widget using your mouse on a form in Client/Server environment. Anyhow Detail trigger on DropDownList it is available so you can code what you like in it and it can be activated using keyboard (<GOLD>D) or through a menu (pop-up or pulldown) with macro "^DETAIL" in the Option trigger. Hope it helps. Gianni

On a first thought I was tempted to advise to set one of the widget properties of the field to 'double click= detail', but then I realized that this is not a property of a dropdown list, only of an editbox...

  4. For sure is not the best solution but... Create a contained form with the appearance of the dropdown part of a dropdownlist. Use async messages to simulate de doubleclick feature. Greetings Sergio.
