Author: daniel.cabero@euralis.com (cabero)

Hi all, Anyone could give me the more realistically and probable date of disponibility of the new release Uniface 10.2 ?  (C/S release with 9.6 portability) We have in our company a main software in Uniface 9.6 with more than 1000 frm, actually on C/S model on citrix servers and Oracle Database. I would like to have informations about this , because in the next (1-2) years , I would like to plan with my team to completly rewrite and modernize this software with the new Uniface 10.2. Thank you in advance for any informations about this topic. Daniel

  2. Daniel, sorry for not coming back to you earlier, I've been offline for a few days.  Uniface 10.2 will be packaged as the Mobile Edition, this will not have any client server functionality.  Uniface 10.3 will be packaged as the Enterprise Edition, which is planned to deliver client server functionality.  I'm not going to publish dates at this time, as we have a product planning/roadmap meeting in a couple of weeks time, and will have a better idea of dates after that.  But in regards to your original question, you could start the modernization project with Uniface 9 and move to Uniface 10 later. Obviously I'm saying this without knowing what your modernization plans are, there are some good things coming in Uniface 9.7 for web and client server as well as releasing the mobile functionality.

  3. I thought the plan was to have Uniface 10.2 support migration from Uniface 9.5+.....is it now pushed to Uniface 10.3? If so, what is the anticipated/planned GA for Uniface 10.3? Also, any more progress on the hot deployment suggestion I shared with you (Adrian)?

  4. Many Thanks for your answer Adrian. When you say: there are some good things coming in Uniface 9.7 Is there any documentation about these good things in 9.7 ?  any date of disponibility ? Concerning Uniface 10 (10.3 for client server), Can we consider that all the improvements actually in the user interface of Uniface 9.7  (tab menus, tree widgets, extended field properties etc ... ) will be transfered in Uniface 10 ? Thanks again

We will start to share details of Uniface 9.7 content closer to the release date which should be the end of this month or early October (we are currently in the test-fix phase and we are uncovering a few issues, specifically around Windows 10).  Windows 10 Enterprise Edition will be the release which has client server functionality, everything that is in Uniface 9.7 is also in a Uniface 10 codeline, so for client server it will be in EE (10.3) codeline.

Hey Larry, good to hear from you. Uniface 10 Enterprise Edition (10.3) is the release which will have a C/S migration path which *should* be from 9.5 upwards. Mobile Edition (10.2) will be focussed on Web (DSPs), and will probably have some upgrade options.  I don't know about dates right now, they will be clearer in the next couple of weeks, as I'm waiting on the all important PAB (product advisory board) session where we work though roadmaps. It will be later than anticipated as we allowed Uniface 9.7 to be bigger than we originally planned.  Hot deployment, I'm not sure if you saw the online session that Michel did earlier this year? But from what I understood from our discussions (back in 2013 I think?), I think they are resolved.
